In the Antwerp district of Zurenborg a home with a back house is being renovated. The living areas on the ground floor of both the home and the back house are being opened up around the courtyard that forms the axis of the residence. The size of the yard is too small to be a real garden and too big to be just a terrace. By unifying the materiality of the substrate and walls around it, the spot is clearly highlighted as the centre of the home and as an outside room. This forms a series of indoor and outdoor rooms that lends spaciousness to the house.
